The Luna Who Walked Away

Selene Ashford wakes back in her 27-year-old body, reborn with the memory of a first life that ended in lonely agony. She was Luna to Dorian, the most powerful Alpha in the Eastern Reach — and for six years he gave every tender look to Camilla, the childhood sweetheart who came back for him. This time Selene does not fight for a love that was never hers. She hands the mate-bond dissolution contract to Camilla herself and walks away from the Alpha, the pack, and even the twin cubs, Rylan and Nova, who worship the rival and call their real mother a nanny. She stops being Luna in all but name. The pack house falls apart without her healing scent. The cubs, cruel and spoiled, push her down the stairs; when an elevator collapses on the full-moon night of the bond-breaking ceremony, Dorian orders the rescuers to save Camilla first, and the falling metal shatters Selene's body and finally severs the bond. She heals herself, leaves the black card of "compensation" in a drawer, and flies to the southern coast. There she opens Silverlight Healing, a small art-therapy and herb studio, and meets Julian Vale — a gentle Healer, two years her senior from the academy — and his orphaned niece Lily, who says Selene smells like her lost mother. As Selene builds a real family, Dorian slowly wakes to what he threw away: the coffee tastes wrong, the home has no warmth, and he catches Camilla abusing the feverish cub she once flattered. He slaps Camilla, throws her out, and races to the coast with the twins to beg Selene back. But some hurt cannot be apologized away. Selene refuses. In the light of her new home, with Julian and Lily, she is finally free.
